Cici : 2013 – 2026

Cici (aka Blind Kitty) passed away this morning.

We adopted her in August 2013. Even as a kitten she’d had a rough life. Something (i.e. someone) happened to her and her eyes had to be removed and her whiskers had been cut short.

For the first few weeks that we had her, she held her paw out like a cane. But she very quickly adapted to life with us. Within 24 hours, she had the house mapped out. She could sprint up the stairs to chase her siblings or hunt down her favored enemy – the paper ball.

But time comes for us all. Diabetes and age took its toll. She spent last night in bed with us and I didn’t let my hand off her once. She spent the rest of this morning curled up in a ball with my wife and I keeping a close eye on her.

Strange as it is, It’s hard to be sad. We gave this Blind Kitten no one else wanted a great life. She had siblings (Skye then later Bee, Indy, and Millie). A great outdoors that she could wander about in safety. She protected us from many a deadly paper ball. And she had me completely wrapped around her finger. Cici was a very good kitten, no matter how old she got. She gave us many, many days of great joy .

But I am going to be sad today. And probably tomorrow.
